FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: What is the Alberta Micro-Generation program?

Q: What happens with the extra electricity I produce?
A: Your energy company will automatically credit your account for any exported electricity (1:1) or you can look at other providers such as Spot Power, Ace Power or Foothills Energy Co-op.
Q: How long will my solar panels last?
A: Solar panels are warrantied for 25 years and are expected to outperform that warranty. With no moving parts, a 30+ year life cycle is generally expected.
Q: What if we don’t plan to stay in our home or business forever?
A: No problem! Going solar will increase the equity of your home. Typically 4-6% in Alberta.
Q: What is the workmanship warranty on install?

Q: Will the application process be lengthy and tedious?
A: The full process is turn-key except for a few signatures from the homeowner. We take care of everything for you! The only aspect required by the homeowner is the application of the federal Greener Homes Loan if it is being used.
Q: What kind of maintenance am I required to do on the system?

A: One of the best places in Canada. We might have cold winters, but the sun shines all year around here.
Q: Do I have the ability to increase the size of my system over time?
A: Yes, solar systems can always be expanded upon. Just have to “prove” the additional consumption.
Q: How does the energy retailer keep track of what I produce?
A: The last step in the install is to have the wire service provider come out and install a bi-directional meter that automatically keeps track of your import/export.
Q: What is the average installation time?
A: Most residential installs take 1-3 days – we require access to the home for a few hours during this time.
